Since I shoot film & digital, you have the option of choosing either format, or BOTH! However, many of the unique artistic photographs I shoot with traditional film would be impossible, or very difficult, to achieve digitally. Examples of these appear in my ARTISTIC gallery.

B&W traditional negatives are truly archival. They WILL last forever.

Computers break. DVDs go bad or get scratched. I know a LOT of people who have had hard drives fail, memory cards erased, or major, major issues with their computers- leading to the loss of data. I do NOT know anyone who has had their house burned down leading to the loss of their wedding photographs and negatives.

Digital allows me to shoot more without having to worry about a bad shot! This way, if someone steps in front of the camera on the dance floor, I can easily edit the photograph . No more blinking photographs. Digital also enables me to post images to the web within 72 hours!

Film and digital capture the moments completey different! You could shoot the same scene with digital, color film, and traditional B&W and be amazed at the differences! Take a look here for a thorough article by Ken Rockwell

Ecological concerns? Yes, film uses chemicals which are damaging to the environment. However, in order to get digital negatives, you need computers, DVDs, external hard drives, memory cards, batteries, monitors, etc. that are also terrible for the environment. Oh, and everything digital needs to be replaced every 3-4 years too.

I focus on capturing the moment as it happens! I prefer to allow the events to unfold and capture the tears, laughter, and insanity of a wedding day without making them occur. This style is generally called “photojournalism”.

Since I have shot over 300 weddings, I feel very comfortable conducting “formal” photographs. I wrote “formal” in quotations since most people think of the dreaded formal session where the photographer puts his/her camera on a tripod and takes the endless photographs in front of the altar of different people. I do NOT work in this manner. My goal is to make you comfortable and to keep the session loose. Your ten minute “formals” will feel like you are hanging out. I encourage others in your wedding to be with us and take pictures too!

Of course, I will take a few pictures in front of the altar. However, rest assured that there will be different angles, different films, and unique looks to ALL the photographs.

Thanks for asking!  I love taking pictures.  Your wedding will go so quickly, and at the end of the day many people say “What happened?  I do not remember a thing!”

Children grow fast! Your pregnancy, while it may feel like it lasted an eternity, is over so quickly. You deserve to have artistic and memorable photographs of your pregnancy and children to remember forever.

For these reasons, you need, and deserve, a photographer who is capable of capturing these events.  This is why you would choose Ryan of R. Fox Photography.

My background includes 8 years of professional photography.  In addition to photographing weddings, maternity, portraits, and fine art, I shoot internationally for magazines and travel guidebooks.  Examples of my travel photography are available on my travel website.  These images have appeared in countless Lonely Planet Guidebooks, National Geographic kids, Outside magazine, and others.  My images are represented by Lonely Planet Images, age fotostock, and Alamy Images
