Lara & John’s wedding(s) at the Cotton Room at Golden Belt

Lara and John were married at the Wake County Courthouse in a beautiful little civil ceremony.  The “actual” wedding would be the next day though.  Lara’s close friend Zach was the officiant.  Zach is not a minister, and unlike the state of Oregon (where I used to live), you cannot become a minister in North Carolina simply by taking an internet “test” and spending 5 bucks.

There was a tense moment when the judge called John up to” talk”.  It sounded like he was in trouble.

All I could think was “Man, he should have paid those parking tickets”.

Alas, there was a spelling error in his name, and they would have to amend  paperwork.

Ten minutes later, John and Lara became the Bartholows.

Lara and the ladies started dressing the next day at her home and finished at the Washington Duke Inn in Durham.

We were really hoping to get some photographs outside in the lawn, but it was too hot.    Even standing by the windows was too hot!

The wedding ceremony and reception were at the Cotton Room.  The first time I saw the room I was concerned with its size.  The wedding was a small, and the room was huge.

Kudos to Jenn and the staff at the Cotton Room for gorgeously decorating the room and making it feel comfortable.  The Cotton Room was an amazing place.  My favorite photographs of the evening were of the bride and groom backlit by the window.
