Engagement photographs- Raleigh skyline & Raleigh Rose Garden
Last Monday’s engagement session with Lara and John was fantastic. The heat was slightly bearable. We started at the Boylan Street bridge to capture the city skyline in the background. However, in order to compress the background (make the buildings larger behind the couple), I had to stand on the other side of the street with my zoom. Thus, they could barely hear me over the noise of the cars passing. Several of these photographs are featured below:
Luckily, they did not need much direction. I told them to act natural. Little kisses, hugs, etc.
John’s an uber-talented musician in a local band- Psychic Saviors. He has done a few photo shoots before and was real natural in front of the camera.
Most of these shots were lit by a slaved-flash off-camera on one side of the couple.
A few digital infrared shots while we were leaving the bridge.
Afterwards, we headed to the Raleigh Rose Garden.
Hi-key photograph. Basically, all you have to do to get this look is overexpose the image by 3-4 stops in camera (hopefully intentionally).
A “Brenizer effect” photograph. 30+ small JPEGs merged in Photoshop to create a depth of field impossible to achieve with a standard lens.
“Stalker” pictures! We shot several sequences with several variations. These are a few of my favorites.
Thanks Lara and John. I am looking forward to the wedding.
Best wishes,
Ryan
